Health Checks and Immunisations


  • For up to date guidance on the childhood immunisation programme (from 8 weeks and older), please see this link from the Department of Health: Childhood Immunisation Schedule


    • Blood Pressure every 5 years over the age of 45

    • Tetanus Status when considered appropriate

    • Cervical Smear every 3 years for women aged 25 - 49 every 5 years for women aged 50 - 64.
      • IMPORTANT - cervical screening checks for early signs of possible cancer. Please see the NHS website for more information about the test and why it is important. There is also an information leaflet available here:
      • Our GPs highly recommend all eligible women have their smear test. It is quick and straightforward, carried out by one of our experienced nurses. If however you decide you do not want to have a smear test, you can sign an opt-out form to be removed from the recall system. Please find copy here for download:Smear Disclaimer . (please note that if you opt-out, you can opt back in at any time).

    • Breast Screening every 3 years for women aged 50 – 64 via National Screening Programme


    • Influenza recommended for over 65’s and those at risk. Please see surgery posters advising dates of clinics and book an appointment.
    • Foreign travel vaccinations - ask receptionist for a Travel Clinic Form and allow at least one week for processing before vaccinations are given.
      • You must allow sufficient time before you travel as not all vaccines can be given at the same time.
    • Shingles vaccination is free on the NHS for patients within a certain age bracket. For more information, including to see if you are eligible, click here:
    • Pneumonia vaccines are available for those at risk and those aged over 65
    • Recently, there have been outbreaks of measles in the local area. Please call the surgery if you do not think you or your child has received an MMR vaccine.
